WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) announced today that Kaskaskia College will receive a $99,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program to develop a mobile lab for industrial trades education and training.

“Many Southern Illinoisans determine they’re more interested in pursuing a skilled trade than a four-year college degree," said Bost. "This grant will help Kaskaskia College train the next generation of skilled workers in industrial electronics and automation, welding, construction, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. These hardworking men and women will help strengthen the backbone of our local economy for years to come.”

The mobile training lab will benefit the college's five-county service region, which includes Bond, Clinton, Fayette, Marion, and Washington counties.
