U.S. Rep. Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro, issued a statement similar to Durbin’s letter on Tuesday.

“The answers NGA provided in its letter are no more specific than they were in the delegation’s meeting with Director Cardillo two weeks ago,” Bost wrote. “A national security decision of this magnitude warrants more than a simple confirmation that the most minimum of security standards have been met. We are being asked to take their assurances on blind faith, rather than on a transparent analysis of the standards.”

Cardillo’s letter comes ahead of a town hall meeting planned for Friday in O’Fallon to discuss the latest with the selection process and to allow residents to ask questions and bring up concerns regarding placement of the new NGA western headquarters, according to Bost’s office.

The meeting is being coordinated by Bost; U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville; St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern; Madison County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan; and other community leaders.
