Two veterans-related bills sponsored by Rep. Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro, passed the U.S. House on Tuesday and now will go to the Senate for consideration.

Both had bipartisan co-sponsors.

One measure is aimed at streamlining the appeals process at the Department of Veterans Affairs. It passed unanimously, 418-0.

The other assures that veterans receive the same cost-of-living adjustments in benefits that Social Security recipients get. It was passed by voice vote.

Bost called the two measures "long overdue legislation to help fix the VA’s broken appeals process and backlog."
