O’Fallon, IL — U.S. Reps. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) and Mike Bost (R-Ill.) today applauded the federal grant announced for the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (TRRA). TRRA has received a $28.8 million U.S. Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Consolidated Railroad Safety and Infrastructure (CRISI) Grant to replace the main span girders on the MacArthur Bridge.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Mike Bost voted today against legislation that would provide a special pathway to citizenship for those who immigrated to America illegally. The House Democrats’ plan, called the American Dream and Promise Act, would offer no provisions for additional border enforcement and cost taxpayers an estimated $34.6 billion.

Bipartisan legislation co-sponsored by U.S. Representatives Mike Bost (R-IL) to address the troubling uptick in veteran suicides and help improve suicide prevention and mental health resources at the Department of Veterans Affairs passed the House today. The Support for Suicide Prevention Coordinators Act (H.R. 2333) requires the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct an assessment of the responsibilities, workload, and vacancy rates of the Department of Veterans Affairs Suicide Prevention Coordinators.

U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) today reintroduced the bipartisan Beginning Agriculturist Lifetime Employment (BALE) Act, legislation he introduced during the last Congress to ensure agricultural producers—especially those just getting started—have access to credit to expand or diversify their operations. The previous iteration of the bill was not signed into law, however, congressional negotiators raised the lending caps to $1.75 million, rather than the $2.5 million Bost requested. This year’s bill would again raise the cap to $2.5 million.

Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Bost (IL-12) and Cheri Bustos (IL-17) introduced a resolution honoring the accomplishments of Arthur “Art” Simon – founder of Bread for the World, an anti-hunger advocacy organization. Art Simon has been a leader on the fight to end hunger around the world and has authored a number of books on the issue including “Bread for the World” – for which he won the national Religious Book Award – and “The Politics of World Hunger” – co-authored by his late brother, Senator Paul Simon (D-IL).

U.S. Representatives Mike Bost (IL-12) and Dan Lipinski today introduced the Act, which helps ensure that federal agencies adhere to Buy American laws and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods. Recognizing taxpayers’ overwhelming support for proposals that strengthen Buy America laws, the legislation directs the General Services Administration to establish a website,, to collect and display information about each request by a federal agency to bypass “Buy American” laws and purchase foreign-made products. Manufacturers and others will be able to use the site to identify contract opportunities and challenge pending “Buy American” waivers sought by federal agencies.

U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) today announced that applications for up to $500,000 in federal school safety grants would be accepted through May 31st. The COPS School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) grants were created through Bost’s bipartisan legislation, the Securing Our Schools Act, which was signed into law in March 2018. Ninety-one school districts were awarded grants last year, including seven in Illinois.

U.S. Representative Mike Bost today signed a discharge petition, a procedural motion, that would bring the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 962) to the House floor for a vote. H.R. 962 requires appropriate medical care for children who survive abortion procedures. The bill also imposes strong criminal penalties for failure to provide such care—while also protecting women upon whom abortions have been performed from prosecution.
