U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) announced that he will co-sponsor the Employer Participation in Repayment Act, which would incentivize employers to offer student loan assistance to help their employees pay off student loan debt. The bill would help companies recruit and retain employees by making student loan payments by employers tax exempt up to $5,250 a year—similar to tax exemptions for tuition assistance programs.

U.S. Representative Mike Bost today announced he will cosponsor the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 962), which requires appropriate medical care for children who survive abortion procedures. The bill also imposes strong criminal penalties for failure to provide such care—while also protecting women upon whom abortions have been performed from prosecution.

U.S. Representative Mike Bost today announced he will cosponsor legislation (H.R. 748) to repeal a 40% excise tax on certain employer-sponsored health insurance plans, known as the “Cadillac Tax.” The tax would impact employers and families whose health insurance plans cost more than $11,100 for an individual, and $29,750 for family coverage. The “Cadillac Tax” was originally a provision in Obamacare, but implementation has been delayed numerous times by bipartisan coalitions in Congress, most recently to 2022.

Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Bost (R-IL) and Al Lawson (D-FL) introduced bipartisan legislation to make more United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) apprenticeships available to veterans. The Veterans’ Agricultural Apprenticeship Act instructs the USDA to work with state departments of agriculture to identify farmers and ranchers eligible for a direct loan to train apprentice veterans. The loan would, in turn, be paid back to the USDA after the harvest season.
