WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) tonight voted for the Surface Transportation Extension Act, which would extend funding for federal highway and public transportation programs, including the Highway Trust Fund, for 30 days. Funding for these programs lapsed at midnight on Friday morning.

“Instead of working with House Republicans on our nation’s infrastructure needs, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have chosen to go it alone every step of the way,” said Bost. “We’ve always known that funding for these highway programs would lapse if it was not reauthorized this year, yet Speaker Pelosi could not even get her own caucus on the same page until this evening. Had they been less focused on their tax and spending spree and been willing to work with House Republicans, we could have come up with a long-term solution instead of a patch that we will have to revisit at the end of the month.”
