MARION -- More than 100 Southern Illinois area residents joined the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's at the Harry L. Crisp Sports Complex on Oct. 12. Participants raised more than $16,000 for the care, support and research programs of the Alzheimer's Association.

The Saline County Golf Tournament (in memory of Dennis Hatton) was the top fundraising team at this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's, raising more than $2,500. Thank you all for your help in helping us #ENDALZ.

• HOPE4AlzAct -- This bill would educate clinicians on Alzheimer's and dementia care planning services through Medicare. This will give them the knowledge and tools to better help their patients and families living with dementia.A special thank you to U.S. Rep. Mike Bost for joining us at this event and speaking to those in attendance. Bost, a Murphysboro Republican, is a supporter of the Alzheimer's Association legislation such as:

• YoungerAlzAct -- This bill would allow individuals living with dementia under the age of 60 to access supports and services from programs under the Older Americans Act (OAA). Those programs include nutritional services, supportive services, and respite care through the National Family Caregiver Support program.
