Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Mike Bost (IL-12) voted for the final conference report negotiated by the House and Senate on the Fiscal Year 2016 budget resolution.

“This is a bold, common sense approach to balancing the budget in under a decade, while stopping the federal government from continuing its out-of-control spending,” said Rep. Bost.  “This budget does so without raising the taxes of hardworking families in Southern Illinois—many of whom are already struggling to make ends meet.  It also fully repeals Obamacare and boosts defense spending above the President’s request.”

FY16 Congressional Balanced Budget by the Numbers:

  • Balances the budget in 10 years without raising taxes;

  • Sets the stage for improved long-term economic growth and job creation;

  • Provides $5 trillion in savings over 10 years; and

  • Creates a $32 billion surplus in 2024 and $24 billion surplus in 2025.
