Sparta, IL – Today, Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) visited the Walmart Supercenter in Sparta, where he met with employees as part of a “Take Your Congressman to Work Day” event. Walmart is one of hundreds of companies that gave hourly-wage employees bonuses and wage increases because of the new tax law.
“Our 'Take Your Congressman to Work Day' program is a fun way to highlight the great work Southern Illinois' job creators like Walmart are doing to grow our local economy," said Rep. Bost. "This is a great way to get feedback from my constituents and hear about the challenges and opportunities they face at work. I was especially pleased to hear about the many benefits employees are seeing due to tax reform, including higher wages and bonuses. That’s what tax reform is about for me – helping working families in Southern Illinois to get ahead.”
“It was great having Rep. Bost here as part of his ‘Take Your Congressman to Work Day’ program,” said Brea Rosson, Store Manager of the Walmart Supercenter. “We were able to show him exactly what our employees do on an everyday basis and chat about the new tax reform law. Our store has seen the direct benefits: 71% of our employees have received a bonus and 60% of our employees have received a wage increase. All of this is due to the new tax reform law.”
