Bost Votes Again to Tackle Opioid Crisis
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) today voted for H.R. 6, the Support for Patients and Communities Act, a bipartisan bill that combats the opioid epidemic by advancing treatment and recovery initiatives, improving prevention, protecting communities, and bolstering efforts to combat illicit synthetic drugs like Fentanyl.
“As a father and grandfather, it’s gut-wrenching to hear story after story of personal tragedy due to the ongoing opioid crisis,” said Bost. “In Congress, I have been working to bring light to this crisis and combat its devasting effects. I’ve worked with law enforcement, recovery treatment experts, families impacted by addiction, and representatives from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs to find solutions to this complex problem. Passage of this legislation is another step in that process. With almost 2,000 opioid overdose fatalities in Illinois in a year, it’s clear more work remains. If we work together with a common purpose, we can save lives and restore hope across America.”
