Washington, D.C. —Today, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling on same-sex marriage:
“While I believe all human beings deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, I am disappointed that today’s ruling casts aside the will of millions of Americans who have voted to reaffirm marriage as a union between one man and one woman. As a man of faith, I believe this definition of marriage was established long before there were courts appointed to interpret it. If that definition were to change in the eyes of the law, it should be our citizens making the decision at the state level, not nine unelected justices in Washington, D.C.”
