Washington, D.C. — After testifying before the House Armed Services Committee in support of the U.S. Navy’s request of funding for the production of twelve F/A-18 aircraft, also known as the Super Hornet, the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with the full funding included. When signed into law, the provision will preserve thousands of jobs in the St. Louis region.
“This funding was essential for hundreds of Boeing employees who live and work in the 12th Congressional District,” said Rep. Bost. “Boeing’s continued production of the Navy’s F-18 aircraft in the St. Louis region is critical in strengthening the local defense industrial base.”
“The current state of turmoil in the Middle East makes it more important than ever that we ensure our military has the tools it needs to fulfill its mission in the fight against terrorism,” added Rep. Bost. “The Navy’s F-18 aircraft conduct critical strike fighter missions against ISIL and other Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist organizations and are a national security asset we must protect.”
Boeing’s Impact to the 12th Congressional District of Illinois:
