Washington, D.C. —Tonight, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) voted to repeal one of the more onerous provisions of Obamacare—the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). Rep. Bost is a cosponsor of the Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act (H.R. 1190), which would eliminate the board that many health care professionals fear will recommend deep reductions in Medicare payments.
“The last thing our Southern Illinois seniors need is a board of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats wielding sweeping powers to slash Medicare payments,” said Rep. Mike Bost. “This board should not be given this type of power to dramatically alter medical care to our seniors with no administrative or judicial review or accountability.”
The Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act (H.R. 1190) Includes the Following:
-
Repeals the sections of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) that establish the IPAB;
-
H.R. 1190 has 235 bipartisan cosponsors including Rep. Bost;
-
The legislation is supported by more than 500 organizations representing providers, patients, and the business community.
