Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) voted to override President Obama’s veto of legislation to dismantle Obamacare, defund Planned Parenthood and slash the deficit by more than half-a-trillion dollars.  The House originally passed the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act last month.

“I am going to continue sending a strong message to President Obama that the American people want Obamacare repealed,” said Rep. Bost.  “This failed legislation has done nothing but add government bureaucracy to healthcare, driving up costs and driving down access.  Additionally, this bill would take a strong stand by defunding Planned Parenthood and diverting the money to women's community health clinics. No person should be forced to compromise his or her conscience on matters of protecting life by having their tax dollars subsidize such actions.”

According to the Congressional Budget Office, repealing major provisions of Obamacare would reduce the deficit by $516 billion over the next 10 years.
