Washington, D.C.—Rep. Mike Bost authored a bipartisan letter to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) this week in support of an unfair trade complaint filed by U.S. Steel.  Rep. Rick Nolan (D-MN) joined Bost’s effort, along with more than 40 Members of Congress who signed on to the letter.

“We have seen the harm that unfair and illegal trade practices have done to our steel industry—most recently with the idling of Granite City Works in Madison County,” said Rep. Bost.  “The ITC needs to aggressively investigate this complaint, which may provide our steel companies and their dedicated workers with one more tool to fight illegal imports.”

“U.S. Steel appreciates the strong bipartisan support from elected Representatives for the U. S. Steel complaint filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930,” said Mario Longhi, President and CEO, United States Steel Corporation. “U. S. Steel is grateful for the leadership of Representatives Bost and Nolan in gathering bipartisan support for this new investigation into illegal, unfair trade practices by Chinese companies.”

The letter also urged the ITC to ensure that U.S. Steel is permitted to present its case in full.
