Washington, D.C. —Today, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) announced a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration of more than $1.6 million for infrastructure improvements at the Scott Air Force Base/MidAmerica Airport facility.

“This is a significant investment in an important hub of transportation for many thousands of residents and military personnel in and around the Metro East,” said Rep. Bost.  “This grant provides necessary funding for critical upgrades at MidAmerica.  This airport is seeing an increase in traffic and these improvements to the infrastructure are another sign this transportation center continues to add to the economic growth of Southern Illinois.”

The federal grant will be used to reconstruct 11,850 feet of the airport's existing access road—enhancing access to the airport, improving a portion of the existing access road, and modifying approximately 3,500 square feet of the existing passenger terminal building.
