Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) announced he is accepting applications from young men and women interested in attending one of the U.S. military academies.
“In Southern Illinois, we have exceptional and patriotic young men and women who are already leading their community in and out of the classroom,” says Rep. Bost. “As a veteran, I encourage these individuals to apply for an academy nomination and continue to represent the best our state has to offer. I’m proud that Southern Illinois produces some of the best students in this country to lead a new generation.”
To be eligible for a nomination, a candidate must be:

An American citizen,
-
At least 17 years old,
-
No older than 23 on July 1, 2016,

Not married,
-
Under no legal obligation to support a child; and
-
A legal resident of the 12th District of Illinois.
Applications are accepted for the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO; U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY; U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD; and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.
