Southern Illinois Congressman Mike Bost is calling on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs secretary to investigate allegations of mismanagement at the Marion VA Medical Center.

Bost is joined in his effort by House Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairman Jack Bergman of Michigan.

They say a May 31st memo written by the VA National Center for Patient Safety program manager indicated the Marion VA Medical Center experienced significant dips in patient safety and employee morale since 2014.

Bost and Bergman say employees also claim senior leadership retaliated against them for reporting such problems.

Among other things, the House members want to know who was in charge of the reports and why the
employees concerns weren't addressed.

Bost and Bergman say they want answers to their questions and requested documents by September 1st.
