WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) today voted for the Further Surface Transportation Extension Act, which would extend funding for federal highway and public transportation programs, including the Highway Trust Fund, until December 3rd. Without an extension, funding for these programs is due to lapse on Sunday.

“Four weeks ago, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats claimed that they just needed a little more time to finalize their socialist tax and spending spree bill,” said Bost. “Yet a month later, they have yet to get their house in order and have neglected other issues, like funding for these critical highway programs, in the process. These short-term program extensions, while necessary because of the Democrats’ incompetence, are not how we should be governing. Democrats should quit their games and work with Republicans to come up with a long-term solution.”
