BOST ANNOUNCES 2024 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION WINNER
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) announced today the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition, “Life of a Child,” by Olivia Spour of Teutopolis High School. Olivia's artwork will hang in the Cannon Tunnel in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.
“Congratulations to Olivia for winning our 2024 competition,” said Bost. “She displayed a great talent for painting, and you can tell this self portrait carries a special meaning for her. Thank you to all the Southern Illinois high school students who participated this year, as well as our judges, teachers, and reception hosts who made it all possible. Job well done!”
“This artwork is a portrait of myself as a child, age 2,” said Olivia. “My favorite features in this drawing are my bright blue eyes, my small button nose, and my smile. This artwork is one of my most photorealistic pieces that I have created. I have a deep connection with this piece and thoroughly enjoyed creating it.”
