Washington, D.C. — Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) announced today his appointment to the high profile House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.  For a decade he managed Bost Trucking, a third generation family trucking business started by his grandfather in 1933.

“It’s an honor that my colleagues have entrusted me to serve on this very prestigious committee after just one year in Congress,” said Rep. Bost.  “From highways and railways to airways and waterways, the Transportation Committee is where the rubber meets the road for job creation and economic growth in America.  I look forward to continuing Southern Illinois’ rich legacy on the Transportation Committee, which dates back to former Rep. Jerry Costello’s quarter century of service on the committee and former Rep. Ken Gray before him."

In addition to having jurisdiction over all modes of transportation, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee also plays a key role in setting the agenda on clean water and waste water management, the transport of resources by pipeline, flood damage reduction, and the management of federally-owned real estate and public buildings.

Bost will continue to serve on the House Committees on Agriculture and Veterans’ Affairs.
