Washington, D.C. — Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) announced today that the National Science Foundation has awarded a $1 million grant to the “Southern Illinois Energy Scholarships” program at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
“This program provides scholarships to community college students who enroll in one of SIUC’s nine energy-related majors in science, technology, engineering or math,” said Rep. Bost. “Students in this program will participate in hands-on activities led by faculty and workforce professionals. This project will increase the number of students entering the energy workforce, which is critical to the economic development of Southern Illinois.”
