Washington, D.C.—Today, Reps. Mike Bost (IL-12) and John Shimkus (IL-15), and representatives from the offices of Rodney Davis (IL-13), Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Governor Bruce Rauner (R-IL), met with National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Director Robert Cardillo to highlight the benefits relocating the agency’s western headquarters to St. Clair County.

“Any objective observer would come to the conclusion that the St. Clair County site makes the most sense in terms of cost, infrastructure access, and national security,” said Rep. Bost.  “In a world that seems to become more unstable by the day, it is critical that our intelligence community have the tools to do their jobs effectively.  The site adjacent to Scott Air Force Base provides NGA with the best efficiencies, synergies and force protection capabilities available.”

“Siting the new NGA West facility should be based upon what’s best for the agency and its mission, not what’s most politically expedient,” said Rep. Shimkus. “By every measure and metric that matters, the St. Clair County site adjacent to Scott AFB is the obvious and best choice.”

“At a time when our country faces serious threats at home and abroad, our military must have the ability to upgrade and enhance our security networks," said Rep. Davis. "I believe the Saint Clair County site adjacent to Scott Air Force Base will provide the NGA with the best opportunity to improve our antiterrorism operations and ultimately help keep Americans safe.”
