Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) voted to reject the “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” (JPOA) negotiated between the Obama Administration and Iran (H.R. 3461).

“On the 14th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on America, I joined my House colleagues in standing up against the President’s bad deal with Iran,” said Rep. Bost.  “This agreement will not bring greater peace to the world.  To the contrary, it paves the way for Iran to advance its nuclear capabilities at a time when the world is growing more unstable by the day.

“The more the American people have learned about this deal, the more they have opposed it.  By legitimizing Iran’s nuclear program, allowing for self-inspections, and lifting arms and missile embargoes, this agreement fails to ramp up accountability on a regime that proclaims ‘death to America’ and promises to ‘wipe Israel off the map.’  We must do better for the sake and safety of our children and grandchildren.”

Rep. Bost also voted  to suspend the President’s authority to lift sanctions against Iran (H.R. 3460) and to acknowledge that the President failed to comply with the “Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act,” which requires the Administration to share the full agreement with Congress resolution (H. Res. 411).  The legislative package passed the House on Friday.
