Belleville, IL—Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) announced the winner of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition, “16” by Reed Absher of Marion High School. Selected by an independent panel of local judges, Reed’s artwork will hang in the Cannon Tunnel in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.
“Congratulations to Reed Absher for winning this year’s competition,” said Bost. “Each talented Southern Illinois student who participated submitted their own vision of “Illinois’ Bicentennial: 200 years of artistry. The results were amazing. We commend Reed and thank all the students who put the time and thought into creating such incredible works of art. Thank you also to the parents and art teachers who pushed them to do their best and ensured they reached this point.”
Bost also directed 12th District residents to visit the 2018 Congressional Art Competition photo album at www.facebook.com/repbost to select their favorite piece of art.
