WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) was given the Guardian of Seniors' Rights award from the 60 Plus Association for his commitment to the elderly. On behalf of the American Association of Senior Citizens, 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin was on hand at an event in the Nation’s Capital to present Representative Bost with the award.

“It’s vitally important that we keep the promises we have made to our senior citizens,” said Bost. “This is one the highest responsibilities of representing Southern Illinois in Congress. Preserving Social Security and Medicare and placing our country back on a fiscally responsible track are critical not only for today’s seniors, but also for future generations.”

In a statement released by 60 Plus Association, spokesman and noted American singer Pat Boone remarked, “I’m still singing at concerts, but today I’m singing the praises of Rep. Mike Bost. Seniors can depend on Mike Bost.”

“The Guardian Award is given to members in appreciation of their tireless efforts on behalf of senior citizens, as so many of our elderly struggle on a fixed income,” said 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin. “Seniors have to live within their means and so should our government. Rep. Bost will fight to end the 'Death Tax,' which negatively impacts small businesses, farmers and ranchers throughout the Nation. We also particularly appreciate the efforts by Rep. Bost to assure the financial stability of Social Security and Medicare. That’s why Representative Bost has earned the Association’s highest award, and it’s my honor to personally present it.”
