Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) submitted formal comments on the United States Army Corps of Engineers Draft Environmental Impact Statement highlighting the benefits of locating the next National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency West campus at a proposed site in St. Clair County adjacent to Scott Air Force Base.  He was joined in this effort by fellow Metro-East Congressional Delegation members John Shimkus (IL-15) and Rodney Davis (IL-13).

 

“We believe this report significantly understates costs and overestimates benefits of the Missouri Site, while overestimating costs and understating benefits of the Scott Air Force Base (Scott AFB) Site in St. Clair County,” said Rep. Bost.  “The Scott AFB (St. Clair) Site is the best option to help the NGA achieve its stated mission to ‘deliver world-class geospatial intelligence that provides a decisive advantage to policymakers, warfighters, intelligence professionals and first responders.  The governments and residents of the Metro-East region are united in their desire to recruit NGA West to St. Clair County.”

 

The letter contains formal comments from the Delegation in response to the Corps’ Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).  The United States Army Corps of Engineers released a Draft EIS assessing the qualities of four competing sites for the new NGA West campus that includes the St. Clair County site adjacent to Scott Air Force Base and three in Missouri.
